Comp and Kits!

Hey there! Later than planned for my next post but not to worry! At least I've completed a project to enter in the Chocolate Baroque Colour Challenge this month and here it is!

I used Brushos to make the background, stamped it with leaves from the Autumn Poppy set using Versmark and embossed them with Debbie Moore's Copper Metal Magic embossing powder. I then spread Nuvo Embellishment mousse(Cosmic Brown) through a brick stencil. and added die cut hexagons ( Tattered Lace panel die) which I also used the mousse on. Next, I die cut some sprigs(Spellbinders) from green card and used the same mousse to gild them. The butterfly is from the Chocolate Baroque Just Butterflies set. It was stamped with Versamark and embossed with the same embossing powder as above. I coloured it with Tim Holtz Distress inks (Forest Green, Crushed Olive and Peacock Feathers). The sentiment from CB Artistic Affirmations was done in the same manner!

Finally, I already had some Craftwork Cards flowers which I had made up a while ago. They weren't the right colours but I inked them with the distress inks then gilded them with the embossing mousse. As an afterthought I also added some previously cut ivy (Tattered Lace Charisma Ivy) which I also gilded! This was a colour palette which I probably would never had used as I am a pinky purple sort of girl but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the result!

On another subject, my kittens are now three weeks old and desperate to explore the world. It will only be a matter of days until they climb out and then the world will be their oyster! Their Mum Roxy is so good and laid back with them but the revelation is Daddy Rudi who loves them to bits and likes to groom them and watch over them! He's such a good boy!

So tonight I'm going to get some time in my crafty cabin while lovely hubby watches his favourite team Man United on the tellybox! Hopefully I'll have something to show for my next  post!

Art, kittens and a funeral!

Ah well! I didn't mean to leave it this long before posting another blog but hey ho better late than never!
Since my last post I've finished the card I was working on and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it and I hope Johnny loves it! I won't post it on here as it's his Valentine card so probably better to keep it secret for now! I have also finished two pages in my art journal - a watercolor scene featuring a kingfisher and a piece with two 'tiles' I created using mountboard, a stamp, coloured pencils then triple embossed with ultra thick embossing powder and watercolour background which was covered in glitter . I'm pleased with both but as usual I find myself looking critically at them and feeling that there could be improvements! I guess that's the lot of any artist!

I've been pretty busy also with nannie duties! I managed to take both the youngest grandchildren to visit my mum (their great grandmother). She loves to see the growing family but her dementia means she can't quite understand that I'm not their mother! It's pointless trying to explain - I'll just take it as a compliment in that I obviously don't look my age!!

I have also visited two of the last litter of kittens in their new home this week. It was lovely to see how they've grown and are so comfortable and happy. Its always hard to say goodbye to them as they become part of my family for 14 weeks but it's all worthwhile when everything works out well and they are making someone else very happy!

Today John, my daughter Zoe and I attended the funeral of a friend. He was such a lovely, kind and gentle man - so sad that he was taken from this world too early. He lived his life to the utmost and encouraged his children and others to do as much as possible, to get as much out of life as possible and to never stop looking for new challenges. I shall endeavor to follow his ideals. It was an emotional day but also one of great warmth and happiness as we all remembered and celebrated his life. Rest in peace Percy Piper.

On that note I feel its time to close this blog. It wont be as long between this and the next, I promise!

An Introduction!

Well, I've finally taken the plunge and created my blog space to write about my crafty creations, my cat breeding activities and anything else which I feel the need to express!
 I am working on several craft projects at the moment; making a Valentine card for my lovely hubby, experimenting with some recently purchased stamps by Chocolate Baroque (a wonderful company which I've recently discovered) and a mixed media art journal. Id love to be able to spend more time in my crafty studio but my nannie 'duties' mean that I have to grab the opportunity as and when I can! I'll be posting some photos of my creations in my next blog.
As far as my cat breeding activities go, my breeding queen, Roxy, gave birth to her first litter 10 days ago. She had 4 kittens - all healthy and developing fast. They have now opened their eyes and are trying to explore their nest, albeit on very weak and unsteady legs! It won't be long before they're running around creating beautiful havoc! No doubt, there will be many photos of them and more about my 7 beautiful cats in future blogs!
Anyway, its rather late and I must get some sleep! I'll be posting again tomorrow - or is that today?!!!!
